Safety should be your primary concern while riding a bike. And while being safe involves being aware of your surroundings, being comfortable on your bike and having lights, arguably the most essential piece of equipment is a proper helmet. A good helmet will keep you protected, while being comfortable enough that you don’t opt out of wearing it. The new ABUS Pedelec 2.0 is a helmet designed for bike commuters that checks both boxes.
The Pedelec 2.0 is a great option for bike riders, ebike riders, and escooter riders alike. The first thing you may notice about it is the shape, which differs from many cycling helmets. The helmet cuts out over your temples, whereas most helmets stay higher, cutting back from your browline. The back of the helmet also curves down fairly far down toward the top of your neck. This provides particularly great protection in urban settings where dangers can come from all directions, and for mobility devices like scooters, which can involve falling backwards, not just to either side.
The helmet is made of a durable outer shell fused with shock absorbing EPS interior. It provides enough protection to meet the standards of the Dutch Technical Agreement (NTA) 8776, a safety standard designed specifically for ebikes.
While the helmet keeps your head protected, it also keeps you safe by making sure others on the road see you. The helmet has strong reflectors all around the rim of the helmet as well as a rechargeable red rear flashing light. All you need is a USB recharging cable to keep you bright and seen on the road.
In addition to all the safety features, the Pedelec is also packed with comfort and convenience. On the front it has a removable visor, and on the back it is ponytail compatible, meaning it’ll be easy to get on no matter how you dress for work. The buckle is also a magnetic closure so it won’t pinch your chin and you can secure it with one hand, great if you still are trying to figure out what to do with a bag of groceries.
Four air inlet vents sit atop the helmet, channeling air over your head and exhausting it out nine outlet vents to keep you cool. And if the rain comes on your ride? The helmet has an integrated rain cover that you can pull up and over the vents so that even though your clothes might get wet, your hair won’t.
And your head beneath it all is sure to be comfortable thanks to the Zoom Ace Urban fitment system that uses a dial to tighten the helmet perfectly to your head.
Overall, we are excited to see the ABUS Peletec 2.0 hit the streets. It’s a great option to keep you comfortable enough to keep wearing it, and keep you safe while you do.
