Schwinn Celebrates 125th Anniversary with Limited Edition Collegiate Schwinn’s First US-Made Bike in Over a Decade

For a brand to last over a century is quite a feat. To celebrate its 125th anniversary, Schwinn has teamed up with Detroit Bikes to make a limited edition 2020 Collegiate, one of the most iconic models from an iconic American brand.

Representing Schwinn’s first U.S.-made bike in over a decade, this limited edition release is through and through an American bicycle. It was designed in Madison, Wisconsin, and manufactured by hand by Detroit Bikes in Detroit, Michigan, using U.S.-sourced 4130 chromoly steel.

The 2020 Collegiate draws inspiration from the 1965 Collegiate Deluxe and is filled with classic design elements. The seat stays provide one of the most vintage elements on the bike, bypassing the seat tube to connect to the top tube. And the metal fenders are built to last and look great with the Campus Green frame color. Shimano drivetrain components update the classic look with the convenience of modern shifting.

The Collegiate is available in both a step-through design in 17” and 19” sizes, and a straight top-tube version in 18” and 20” sizes. Each version is painted Campus Green and costs $998. There are only 500 units of this limited edition bike available, and you can only get one at
